Download our free ebook

For our 65th Anniversary event, we created a free-download ebook for all to enjoy.

Entitled Langer’s: A Classic American Culinary Story, the book provides a complete overview of the Langer family story, from Al Langer’s childhood in New Jersey to his migration westward, the early LA delis he worked at and owned, and the founding of Langer’s in 1947.

The story continues through the glory years of the 1950s and early ’60s, and chronicles the deli’s challenges with a changing neighborhood environment and falloff in business beginning in the early 1970s through the early 1990s, when the arrival of the Metro Red Line subway system literally helped save the restaurant from extinction.

The ebook is packed with historic photos of the Langer family and Langer’s Deli artifacts, drawn from Jean Langer’s own handmade scrapbooks that documented the family’s story for successive generations of her family.

We invite you to download the book and enjoy it with our compliments. And we thank you for your support of Langer’s Delicatessen-Restaurant, a family business since 1947 in the heart of Los Angeles.
