Eater: Epic Los Angeles Sandwiches to Eat Before You Die
Our good friends at Eater.com have published yet another amazing collection of Los Angeles-area sandwich recommendations, and Langer’s Delicatessen-Restaurant is proud to be a part of this august list. Written by Matthew Kang and Farley Elliot, our entry reads:
An easy choice for the most popular pastrami sandwich at this historic deli in Westlake, just west of Downtown. This near-perfect Jewish deli sandwich features house-baked rye bread, russian dressing, cheese, coleslaw and freshly sliced slivers of the most achingly perfect, smoked pastrami on earth. There is simply no equal when it comes to this pastrami.

Los Angeles Times: Police chiefs reprise bet on sports rivalry
The Bet is On: LAPD Chief Beck vs. NYPD Commissioner Bratton Dodgers vs. Mets
Los Angeles Police Chief Charlie Beck and New York Police Commissioner William J. Bratton have placed public bets with each other over the Los Angeles Dodgers vs. New York Mets battle for the National League Championship Series (NCLS).
When the Dodgers win NCLS, Commissioner Bratton will buy lunch for Chief Beck at Katz’s Deli in New York. If the Mets were to win, Chief Beck would buy lunch for Commissioner Bratton at Langer’s Deli in Los Angeles. “As with our Kings-Rangers Stanley Cup bet in 2014 when the Kings won, it’s too bad that Commissioner Bratton will not be able to enjoy his favorite Los Angeles Deli,” said Chief Beck.
At stake are the bragging rights over which city’s baseball team is better, not which city has the better pastrami. That question was settled when Commissioner Bratton told Patt Morrison that he would try to get Langer’s sandwiches delivered in NYC.
Thrillist: The LA Sandwich Bucket List
What an incredible collection of Southland sandwiches, ranging from Italian to Vietnamese and yes, even classic Jewish deli pastrami. We are thrilled and honored to be a part of Thrillist’s “LA Sandwich Bucket List.” How many have you tried?
Like The Godmother at Bay Cities, you need to have Langer’s pastrami sandwich with Swiss cheese, Russian dressing, and cole slaw before you’re really even allowed to call yourself an Angeleno. It’s not just the best pastrami sandwich in LA, it’s the best in the country. (Pro tip: it’s even better without all the stuff on it. Trust us.)

Marc Firestone: Top US Jewish Delis
We’re grateful to Marc Firestone for including us alongside so many deli greats in his new “Top US Jewish Delis” list! How many have you visited outside of LA?
Langer’s Delicatessen-Restaurant (Los Angeles, CA): Opened by Russian immigrants who relocated to Los Angeles from New York, Langer’s has since become an LA institution. It’s best known for its #19 sandwich, made with hot pastrami, coleslaw, Swiss cheese and Russian dressing, all on hot double-baked rye bread.
Thank you, Marc! – The Langers
