Inland Valley Daily Bulletin: A Fulfilling Trip to Classic Langer’s Deli
Trevor Summons of the Inland Valley Daily Bulletin recently paid a visit to Langer’s Deli with his grandson, and he had a wonderful time:
The menu is quite large and yet pretty easy to figure out. The regular favorite meals are numbered, with the most popular being No. 19. It’s the hot pastrami meal, with Swiss cheese and coleslaw on toasted rye bread. I chose it without the slaw ….
My grandson went for a roast beef and he was hard pressed to finish it.

Wonderful Thank You Card from the Kids of Heart of Los Angeles
Norm Langer was very touched by this thank you card presented to him by the kids of Heart of Los Angeles (HOLA) during the Urban Fruit Trail dedication ceremony this past Sunday in MacArthur Park. Thank you, HOLA, for allowing us to be part of something helping the youth of Los Angeles. – The Langers
Norm Langer at Heart of Los Angeles’ MacArthur Park Urban Fruit Trail Planting
Norm Langer of Langer’s Delicatessen-Restaurant was proud to be a part of local non-profit Heart of Los Angeles’ planting of fruit trees as part of Fallen Fruit’s “Urban Fruit Trail” being created throughout Los Angeles.
When HOLA’s first planting at Lafayette Park was destroyed by vandals, Norm asked if he could help support a replanting, as well as support their plans for trees at MacArthur Park – directly adjacent to Langer’s Deli’s historic location at 7th and Alvarado. HOLA Communications Director Lee Schube was thrilled to accept Norm’s support, and the MacArthur Park tree planting – featuring more than 30 HOLA young people (Rampart-area students of all ages) was a complete success.
We were joined by HOLA executive director Tony Brown, as well as various members of the local media, including Fox 11 News, KCBS 2 / KCAL 9, KTLA, KNX and many others.
Langer’s Deli provided box lunches to all the participants – just our way of saying “thank you” for not only help revitalize MacArthur Park, but for being such an important and valued part of the lives of the young people who live near us in the Rampart / Westlake area of Los Angeles.
Thank you, Heart of Los Angeles, for allowing us to be a part of your important endeavors. Keep up the fantastic work.

Langer’s Named Among Most Visited Best LA Restaurants by Jonathan Gold Readers
Langer’s Delicatessen-Restaurant is thrilled to have been voted among the most visited of the best of Jonathan Gold’s 101 Best Restaurants list.
Selected by Gold’s readers through a ballot, the most visited list is headed up by Border Grille, and is then joined by Kogi BBQ Truck, Langer’s Delicatessen and the Mozza-plex (Pizzeria and Osteria Mozza and Chi Spacca).
From Jonathan Gold:
“Everyone knows that Langer’s serves the best pastrami sandwich in Los Angeles. Guidebooks say so. National magazines say so. The MTA Red Line disgorges so many Langer’s-bound fressers that it has sometimes been called the Pastrami Express,” wrote Gold. “Distinguished chefs flirting with putting pastrami on their menus rarely do so without at least a nod to the noble deli masters of Westlake.”
We are so grateful to our customers who have supported us for 67 years here at 7th and Alvarado. And this vote only underscores their loyalty and commitment to us – just as we are committed to providing our customers with an unparalleled dining experience with the world’s best pastrami.
Thank you. – The Langers

Norm Langer Donation Supports Heart of LA’s Urban Fruit Trail Initiative
Langer’s Delicatessen-Restaurant owner Norm Langer is proud to be supporting Heart of Los Angeles’ Urban Fruit Trail initiative – planting fruit trees in City parks that will provide both shade and sustenance to passersby.
Norm heard of the devastating news that Heart of LA’s first planting – performed by its child members – had been vandalized by unknown assailants. “That someone would destroy this kind of thing is absolutely beyond my comprehension,” said Norm. He was moved to make a donation to help fund the replanting of the vandalized trees, and will also be taking part in a planting at MacArthur Park, directly across from Langer’s Deli, on Wednesday, July 16, 2014, at 11AM.
